Interim Associate Vice President, Learning Technologies
Julie Johnston is the acting associate vice president for Learning Technologies/University Information Technology Services for Indiana University. This position provides leadership in university-wide initiatives to create learning environments that promote transformative teaching through innovative uses of technology.
Johnston has 25+ years working in Instructional Technology Leadership positions in higher education and K-12, and assisted with the launch of IU’s active learning initiative, Mosaic (mosaic.iu.edu). She is a team member on the Educause Learning Space Rating System (LSRS) project, which provides a set of measurable criteria to assess how well classroom design supports and enables active learning. Johnston co-leads the Educause Learning Space Working group, made up of colleagues interested in learning space design, and has served as a chair of the BTAA Technology Liaisons group. Most recently, she served as the Director of Learning Spaces for UITS.
