Robert Henschel is the director of Research Software and Solutions in IU's Research Technologies division. He holds a master's degree in computer science from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, and has a strong background in high performance computing.
Henschel leads teams that utilize IU's advanced cyberinfrastructure to provide scientific applications to researchers at Indiana University and national partners, and he is responsible for the Advanced Biomedical IT Core that provides support for computational research to the IU School of Medicine. Henschel also oversees IUanyWare, a Citrix based platform that offers secure access to applications for IU faculty, students and staff.
Henschel also serves as the chair of the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) High Performance Group, and in this role leads SPEC's efforts to create production quality benchmarks for supercomputers.
