About this event

Beth Plale, Executive Director of the Pervasive Technology Institute and Director of the Data to Insight Center (D2I) invites you to this D2I hosted talk.

ABSTRACT: Indonesia is home to more than 260 million people and has one of the fastest urbanization rates in the world. The drastic effect of socioeconomic changes on the relationship between urbanization and agricultural land means that urban land expansion creates pressures on national food security. The concept of smart villages focuses on enabling communities to improve local economic development in rural areas, accelerate rural poverty reduction, improve village development plans and increase participation of rural communities in development planning. This work lays out a framework for assessing the smart village readiness of villages in Indonesia by developing a decision support model for smart village development in Indonesia driven by a citizen science approach based on big data analytics.

The seminar will be available via Zoom:

Yeni Herdiyeni is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at IPB University, Indonesia.
