This workshop introduces IU faculty, staff, and students to storage resources for High Performance Computing (HPC) that Research Technologies (RT) makes available to them at IU to empower their research.

It will cover the basics of using storage on IU’s supercomputing systems, starting with considerations about the lifecycle and types of data, moving on to the storage resources available at IU, and then concluding with hands-on labs for getting data in and out of those storage resources.

Objectives:

  • Users will find out about the HPC storage resources that RT provides and learn suggested workflows for how to most efficiently use those resources.
  • By the end of this workshop, users will be able to transfer data in and out of:
    • Home Directories
    • Data Capacitor II
    • Scholarly Data Archive

Agenda:

  • Overview of Data Workflow
  • Overview of Storage Resources
  • Transferring Data to and from Storage Systems

Prerequisites:

The workshop is hosted by Research Technologies - a division of University Information Technology Services and a center in the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University.

The Supercomputing for Everyone Series (S4ES) aims to bring more users into the realm of advanced computing, whether it be visualization, computation, analytics, storage, or any related discipline.
