Offered by UITS Research Technologies, this workshop is highly recommended for anyone doing research or academic work in high performance computing.

Unix is a popular operating system used on many central systems and web servers. This workshop is intended for users who have little or no experience working with Unix from the command line. Users will receive a quick overview of how Unix works, an explanation of the directory structures, and guided practice with core file management commands and setting file permissions. File archiving, file compression, and file transfer (FTP) are also covered.  Emphasis will be placed on being able to use Indiana University's major computing systems.
