Buy and sell securely with IU Classifieds

Rideshares, roommates, technology, tickets—and more.

Maybe your roommate didn’t work out. Or you want to see if somebody has tickets to the next game for sale. Or you’ve graduated and you want to sell everything and backpack around Europe.

IU Classifieds is a great way to do all that, and more. And because only IU students, staff, and faculty can log in, the community is smaller, and there’s less opportunity for creepy transactions. We’ve also added a multi-campus search, so regional campuses, IU Bloomington, and IUPUI can buy and sell items with anyone from any campus.

Check it out and see what you can find!

Informatics researchers use artificial intelligence to improve karaoke singing

Machines tune your off-key vocal stylings into something more pleasant.

With spring break around the corner, karaoke might be in your near future. If you’re worried that you lack a naturally pleasing singing voice, researchers at the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering have your back.

Assistant Professor of Intelligent Systems Engineering Minje Kim and Informatics Ph.D. candidate Sanna Wager are using artificial intelligence and data collected by the Karaoke app Smule to develop a system that can automatically tune off-key vocal performances to improve the final result.

By feeding nearly 5,000 samples into an AI system, Wager and her group used a deep learning system that tuned singer’s notes while also maintaining the individual style of the singer.
