Faculty-authored content and Open Educational Resources

In addition to publisher materials, IU faculty have other options to deliver affordable course content:

  • Open Educational Resources (OER) include entire courses, media, textbooks, and more and are completely free to students.
  • Pressbooks is an IU-supported tool that allows faculty to create an eText that can be shared as an OER. Faculty can also ask students to create their own Pressbooks content, or collaboratively author an eText with their students.
  • Faculty-authored materials can be delivered through Engage, allowing students to highlight or ask questions while reading, and instructors to add annotations to highlight important information.
