IU cybersecurity efforts praised by U.S. Congress

OmniSOC, REN-ISAC called out for collaborative work to protect higher ed

U.S. Congressman Don Beyer mentioned OmniSOC and the Research & Education Networking Information Sharing & Analysis Center as part of his remarks during a Committee on Science, Space & Technology hearing last week in Washington, D.C.

OmniSOC and REN-ISAC are both based at Indiana University.

Beyer is the U.S. Representative from Virginia’s 8th District and vice ranking member of the committee. He read remarks as part of the hearing, “Scholars or Spies: Foreign Plots Targeting America’s R&D.” He explained how OmniSOC and REN-ISAC—and their partner universities—are collaborating to identify threats and train members to learn to mitigate them.  

“Cooperation in the security arena is critical, and I’m glad to see this sort of cooperation emerging between universities,” Beyer said.
