UITS Monitor: Get ready for the holidays

Ready for the holidays?

First up, take note of the UITS Thanksgiving break support hours

Even while you tuck into some turkey with your family and friends over the Thanksgiving break, the UITS support team will be on hand to cater to your technology needs.

The UITS Support Center’s phone, email, and chat options will be up and running every day except for Thanksgiving Day (November 24). During closings, phone calls will be routed to the UITS Contact Center.

Enjoy better online conferencing with Zoom

The web collaboration tool is now available to all IU users

Zoom, designed for quick and easy web collaboration, is now available to all IU faculty, staff, and students.

You can use Zoom to create a live conference and collaboration space for up to 50 people. Large meeting support for up to 300 participants and webinar support for up to 3,000 participants are also available features.

Zoom allows for easy content sharing and supports polling, whiteboarding, and other collaboration tools. The tool is available via the web, Mac/PC desktop clients, and iOS or Android apps. Zoom also integrates with Canvas, and works with IU’s existing web and videoconferencing systems.

Face-to-face support for Two-Step Login

Get help registering your devices and using the mobile app

In recent weeks, Indiana University rolled out Two-Step Login for all IU staff and faculty. We even sent out a special edition Monitor to explain the ins and outs.

Are you still wondering what it’s all about and not sure whether you’ve signed up properly? Still have some burning questions? Then come and talk to somebody face to face.

UITS is coordinating events to give people at IU Bloomington and IUPUI the opportunity to learn more about keeping their IU account secure.

Those at regional campuses are encouraged to contact their local Support Center to arrange one-on-one assistance.

Check out IT Training's brand-new Excel workshop

30 minutes is all it takes

Excel 2016: Using INDEX MATCH as an Alternative to VLOOKUP will be offered for the first time on Thursday, November 17, 1:30–2pm.

Yes, in a half hour you will learn to build and use an INDEX MATCH, a specialized Excel formula, to find the data you need. This is a superior alternative to a VLOOKUP, an Excel function, because it’s flexible, scalable, and efficient.

For more info and to register, see Excel 2016: Using INDEX MATCH as an Alternative to VLOOKUP

IU Ready, set, go for system upgrade

Download your IU Ready plans today in time for the upgrade

IU Ready, the tool IU uses for business continuity planning (BCP), is being upgraded on November 17–18.

BCP is the practice of planning how you will run your service or business unit when normal operating procedures are not possible. A continuity plan is like a roadmap to recovery.

The plans stored on the IU Ready tool will be unavailable during the upgrade, so coordinators are encouraged to download any plans they need access to during that time.

Departments: Take control of your printing

IU Print offers Managed Print Services

Tired of your printers coughing out sketchy pages, chewing up precious papers, and costing you time and money while you constantly order toner to feed the beast?

There’s a better way!

Managed Print Services (MPS) is a subscription service that keeps your printers running smoothly, connects them to other printers all over campus, and brings you toner when you need it.

Enjoy flexible printing and pick-up, card-swipe print release stations for added security, and printing from any device that can send an email.
