Join top IU leaders for discussion about evolution of digital education

As digital education continues to develop, it’s important to understand what IU has done to set itself apart in the field, and its commitment to the future.

Hear from some of the leaders who will help chart IU’s path during a discussion entitled, “How has IU adapted to changes in digital education?” a VPIT Cabinet Series event on how IU is navigating an ever-evolving landscape in digital education.

Moderated by Dan Calarco, chief of staff for the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology (VPIT), the talk will include panelists Stacy Morrone, associate vice president, learning technologies; Rob Lowden, associate vice president, enterprise systems; and Dennis Cromwell, associate vice president, client services and support.

One.IU replacing OneStart October 21

By now, you’ve likely heard about the impending retirement of OneStart on October 21, as IU makes the full transition to One.IU. But if you’re not totally comfortable with One.IU, there are two ways to get up to speed quickly.

Eric Westfall and Ryan Vallow from the One.IU team are holding InfoShare sessions on how to prepare for the transition at both the Bloomington and the IUPUI campuses. The topics they will cover include:

  • Why One.IU?
  • Using One.IU effectively
  • The OneStart retirement timeline
  • How you can help and learn more

For those who can’t make it to either InfoShare, a webinar training session, “One.IU: Making the Switch,” will be held online Wednesday, October 7, 10-11am. Many of One.IU’s critical features will be covered, including:

  • Finding key navigation tools
  • Viewing and launching tasks
  • Creating and managing favorites
  • Setting and managing filters and preferences
  • Submitting ratings and reviews

Microsoft expert to teach Windows 10 in-person and online

Curious about new features and improvements in Windows 10? Join UITS IT Training for a training session on Thursday, October 15, 1:30-3pm. Presented by Microsoft’s Richard Seymore, this session will be simultaneously available to attend as an online webinar or in person, at the Wrubel Commons of IU Bloomington’s CIB.

Canvas tool CN Post enhances course discussion

CN Post provides new opportunities for student engagement and discussion. The tool is available within CourseNetworking (CN), and it is also integrated and available within all Canvas course sites.

Using CN Post means both instructors and students become part of a global academic network for learning that is more social, inclusive, and engaging. Within a CN Post discussion, users can share files, images, and videos; use hashtags to label discussion topics and search for specific posts; create polls; and access other functions that enhance discussion.

IT Leadership Community Speaker Series: Emotional Intelligence

The IT Leadership Community Speaker Series will offer a workshop on emotional intelligence (EI) led by Tony Reilly, PhD, Tuesday, September 29, 10-11:30am.

This workshop will help participants to become more consciously aware of the various components of EI, assess their current perceptions of their EI skills, and determine next steps to reinforce their leadership approach. The 90-minute program will be participatory in nature, blending presentation with a bit of self-reflection time and small group discussion.
