New link provides easier access to learning with lynda.com

Beginning November 7, users can access lynda.com directly from Oncourse

Learning from lynda is about to become much more convenient.

Beginning November 7, users can access lynda.com directly from the Oncourse navigation bar. Lynda.com provides video-based eLearning courses to IU students, faculty, and staff at no cost.

"We’re hoping this simple addition to Oncourse has a big impact on the number of people at IU who use lynda.com," said John Gosney, faculty liaison for UITS Learning Technologies. "In addition to raising awareness and making access more convenient, we also think adding the link carries an implied benefit for students. If they are already in an instructional environment like Oncourse, then they may be more likely to check out another instructional environment like lynda."

The site features more than 1,700 topics explaining how to use a wide variety of programs, including Microsoft Office and Adobe software.

"If a student is working on a project and has a question, he or she may be more likely to visit lynda.com for additional guidance," Gosney added.

Last year, 11,533 IU students, faculty, and staff watched at least one lynda.com video, with over half a million videos watched in total.
