BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Two new appointments within University Information Technology Services (UITS) will enable the consolidation of staff from IUB and IUPUI and leverage their expertise to provide more robust support for teaching and learning on the core campuses and across the University. Beverly Teach has been appointed manager of UITS Classroom Technology Services, and David Donaldson has been appointed manager of UITS Media Design and Production. Reporting to Elizabeth Van Gordon, these managers and their groups will have responsibility for both the IUB and IUPUI campuses and will provide services to other campuses.

UITS Classroom Technology Services provides consultation on classroom design and technology installations as well as training and support for the use of permanently installed equipment. Since the launch of the IT Strategic Plan, UITS Classroom Technology Services has worked collaboratively with other units within UITS and other units on campus, including Electronics, Physical Plant, and the University Architect's Office to upgrade the technology in general inventory classrooms, outfitting them with permanently installed equipment and standard interfaces for faculty connectivity and use. By fall 2007, all general-purpose classrooms on IU campuses will have been upgraded.

Media Design and Production is a new service group comprising the former Media Production organization at IUB and Digital Media Services at IUPUI. UITS Media Design and Production specializes in web, digital audio and video, CD and DVD production, and media conversion and duplication. The group offers consulting and database design in collaboration with UITS Data Management Support. Media Design and Production works closely with the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the IUB Teaching & Learning Technology Centers (TLTC), as well as other centers for teaching and learning on IU campuses, to engage with faculty in instructional development projects.

Both Donaldson and Teach have served IU for many years. Teach has led Classroom Technology Services at IUB since 1994, where she was responsible for long-range plans for classroom instructional technology and participated in the design and renovation of classrooms. In this capacity she also helped to implement the IT Strategic Plan classroom technology initiative. Previously Teach served in IU's Media Resources organization, where she also rose to a leadership position. She holds three IU degrees: a doctorate in library and information science with a minor in instructional systems technology, a master's degree in information science, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and English.

Over the past 20 years, David Donaldson has provided leadership and service to IU in the capacity of multimedia development, presentation environment design and user support management. Donaldson has led UITS Digital Media Services at IUPUI and Classroom Technology Services on that campus as well. Donaldson has comprehensive experience in strategic planning, project management, multimedia production, staging and lighting, visual design, and special event planning. Donaldson holds a master's degree in media arts and sciences from the Indiana University School of Informatics and a bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, also from IU.
