Sheehan Appointed UIS Director at IUPUI

Vincent J. Sheehan was recently appointed Director of University Information Systems (UIS) for University Information Technology Services (UITS) at IUPUI. Sheehan joins the University from Methodist Medical Group in Indianapolis, where he served as Director of Information Resources. He began his new role with the University on November 2, 1998.

Sheehan has fourteen years experience in information technology for the Methodist/Clarian system. While with Methodist Medical Group, Sheehan was responsible for all IT operations and services in support of a large physician community across multiple sites. A 1977 graduate of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, he has also completed management programs at the University of Michigan and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Reflecting on the role of University Information Systems, Sheehan said, "Our goal is to be a customer-focused organization, providing the right information to the right people at the right time." The UIS Division writes, develops, and manages Indiana University's central information system applications and reporting environments which support the University's core business processes. UIS provides information management services in student, financial, human resources, information access, library, security, and decision support systems. In addition, UIS develops, operates, and maintains a secure and stable computing infrastructure to support the applications and information storage/retrieval systems critical to the business of Indiana University. An important current effort of UIS is its Year2000 project.
